Energy Recovery PX® Q650 Parts and Units — Dubai and Spain Supply to SWRO Plants Worldwide

The PX® Q650 is the newest and highest-capacity device in Energy Recovery’s PX Q Series — the range that also includes the PX Q400, Q300, Q260, Q220, Q180 and Q140. Energy Recovery states the Q650 delivers approximately 63% higher unit capacity than the previous model, meaning fewer modules are required for the same throughput. For plant designers and EPC contractors that translates directly into lower capital cost, a reduced plant footprint and simplified installation.

Like every PX device, the Q650 is built around a single moving part — a highly engineered alumina ceramic rotor — operating at up to 83 bar (1,200 psi) with a 30-year design life and no scheduled maintenance. PX Q Series devices achieve energy recovery efficiency of up to 99% and reported field uptime of 99.8%. Meliora maintains an active ERI supply relationship and sources PX Q650 components, repair kits and complete units for plant operators, EPC contractors and O&M teams worldwide.

PX® Q650 Parts and Kits We Source

Fewer Devices, Smaller Footprint

The commercial case for the Q650 is device count. A train that needed a large bank of Q300 or Q400 devices can be served by significantly fewer Q650 units — fewer manifold connections, less skid area, faster installation and fewer components to maintain over plant life. For new-build projects in Morocco, Algeria, Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC where footprint and installation schedule carry real cost, that is a design-stage decision worth pricing properly. Send your train capacity and recovery ratio and we will quote the Q650 configuration against your current specification.

Contamination Remains the Failure Mode to Manage

PX devices have no material wear mechanism under correct operating conditions — which is why Energy Recovery specifies a 30-year design life with no scheduled maintenance. Field failures follow feed water contamination events, where hard debris damages the ceramic rotor. Pre-treatment quality is therefore the critical operational variable. After a contamination event, a repair kit restores full performance provided the rotor has not been damaged beyond reconditioning. Describe the failure when you enquire and we will advise the likely repair scope before you order.

Stocking Strategy for Q650 Plants

Because the Q650 carries more of the train’s duty per device, the operational impact of a single device outage is proportionally larger than on a bank of smaller units. Holding at least one complete repair kit per bank as insurance stock is prudent — the kits are compact with long shelf life. Operators in North and West Africa face the longest resupply chains; pre-positioning kits through our Spain hub, 3 to 5 business days DDP to Casablanca or Algiers by airfreight, removes that lead-time risk. Bulk pricing applies on multi-kit orders.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the PX Q650 different from the PX Q400?

Capacity. Energy Recovery states the PX Q650 delivers roughly 63% higher unit capacity than the previous model, which means fewer devices are required for the same train throughput. That reduces capital cost, plant footprint and manifold complexity, and simplifies installation. Both devices share the same core PX technology — a single alumina ceramic moving part, a 30-year design life and no scheduled maintenance.

Is the PX Q650 suitable for a retrofit, or only new builds?

Both. On new large-scale SWRO trains the Q650 reduces device count from the outset. On retrofits, replacing an ageing bank of smaller devices with fewer Q650 units can free floor space and cut manifold complexity — but the train hydraulics and piping must be reviewed first. Send your train flow rate, recovery ratio and existing device model and we will quote both the like-for-like replacement and the Q650 option so you can compare.

Do you supply complete PX Q650 units as well as spare parts?

Yes. We quote complete PX Q650 units for new trains, capacity expansions and retrofits, alongside repair kits, ceramic rotor assemblies, seal kits and individual components. Complete units ship in original manufacturer packaging with full documentation.

How fast can you deliver PX Q650 parts or units?

For plant-down enquiries we respond with availability and DDP pricing within 4 business hours. Spare parts and kits held in the supply chain typically deliver by airfreight within 5 to 10 business days DDP. Complete units carry factory lead times which we confirm in writing before you commit — never estimated.
