Oil and gas procurement in Oman runs through the Joint Supplier Registration System. The Ministry of Energy and Minerals requires every supplier taking part in bidding for the operators and concession companies to hold an active JSRS certificate. The system connects suppliers to Oman’s oil and gas operators, including Petroleum Development Oman, OQ Exploration and Production, Occidental of Oman, BP, Shell, CC Energy Development, Oman LNG and Eni. A buyer can only invite a vendor who is in the system.

Oilfields use a great deal of treated water, for steam generation in thermal recovery, for injection, and for the camps. Many concession areas therefore run their own reverse osmosis and water treatment plants, far from the coast and far from the suppliers who serve the municipal desalination sector. Parts held in the UAE move to Oman by road through the Hatta–Al Wajajah border or by air to Muscat. Parts built to order ship from the manufacturer, often directly to Muscat airport. Delivery terms and lead time are stated on each quotation.
