The raw water pump impeller should be replaced every 200 to 300 hours or annually. Running dry even briefly destroys an impeller immediately. A failed impeller causes rapid engine overheating and can cause head gasket failure if not caught quickly. Always carry a spare impeller on any vessel with a NANNI engine.
